As the Omicron variant starts to cause havok I have been fortunate enough to have a couple of remote recording projects to tackle. Firstly, 8 lead vocals for an old mate (and rather wonderful composer) in a variety of classic ‘jazz’ styles that are proving a real pleasure to get the teeth into. Secondly, I’ve had to leap in at very short notice to try a variety of vocal deliveries for a jingle. As is often the case the brief is rather elusive - and it’s a matter of throwing oneself in and improvising and seeing if what feels good to you also chimes with the client. I will know more about how my interpretation has gone down in a couple of days!
